William "Sonny" Verne Dyer

William Verne "Sonny" Dyer, age 92 of Columbia, LA, passed from this life September 19, 2022, at Mary Anna Nursing Home in Wisner, LA. Sonny was born July 13, 1930, in Rantoul, IL, to the union of his parents, Verne and Deliah Selvy Dyer. Sonny was always a hard worker. He loved his family and spending time with his grandbabies. Sonny was a member of Woolen Lake Church of God and to know him was to love him. Sonny enjoyed music and farming whether it was cotton or soybeans. Back in the older days he loved rounding up cows. Sonny came to Louisiana with his parents during WWII, as his dad was part of the crew building the Chenault Barracks.

Sonny was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ethel Dyer; son Danny Dyer; two brothers: Richard Dyer and Bob Dyer. Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Katie Dyer; grandchildren: Triston Hermes (Karly), Riley Hermes, Summer May, Cara Howard, and Katey Nelson (Josh); three brothers; sister, Marjorie Owens; and a host of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

The family has chosen cremation and requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Riser Funeral Home, PO Box 57, Columbia, LA 71418. There is not a memorial service scheduled at this time.
