William Henry Byrd

Columbia, Louisiana

 

On Wednesday, July 26,2023, William “Henry” Byrd, devoted husband and father, passed away peacefully at home with his beloved wife, Margaret.  Henry was born on February 29, 1936 in West Caroll Parish, Louisiana and went to be with the Lord at the age of 87.

He was known for his quick wit and infectious smile.  He had a successful career in the oil and gas industry traveling throughout the world.  He could fix or build anything.  Henry had a passion for projects, building, community leadership-serving on multiple parish governmental boards and helping others.  Most importantly however, he was known for his commitment to our Lord and living life with integrity and high moral principles leaving a wonderful legacy and example to his family.

Henry was preceded in death by his father, William Graham Byrd, and mother, Rosa Florence Kemp, Byrd. He is survived by his loving wife, Margaret, three children, Stan and wife Natalie, Johnny and wife Carolyn, and James Byrd, his brother James Vernon Byrd and wife Jeanette May Byrd, sisters: Joyce Lindsey, Laura Faye Bellows, and Carol Walker, brother-in-law, John Reitzell and wife June and a multitude of cousins, nieces, nephews, and grandchildren and great grandchildren

In typical “Henry” fashion, no elaborate services are planned other than a small family graveside service to be held 10:00 AM, July 29, 2023 at Old Bethel Baptist Cemetery, 1469 LA -547, Grayson, LA at 10:00 a.m.

Serving as pallbearers will be Chris Lindsey, Warren Byrd, Tracey Pauley, John Michael Byrd, Jimmy Busby and Billy Byrd.

 

In lieu of flowers any planned memorials may be made to the Old Bethel Baptist Church Building Fund, Clarks, LA.
