Bobby Black entered into the arms of Jesus and was welcomed to his heavenly home on February 3, 2026 surrounded by his family. Although his presence will be missed tremendously, his memory and love will forever remain in our hearts. Bobby Black was born on March 27, 1940, under the union of Amos J. Black and Susie Mildred Hinton Black of Sikes, Louisiana.
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents Amos Black and Susie Black, along with his siblings, Jonny Sue Buckley, Travis Black, Jimmy Black and Paul David Black.
Left to cherish the memories of Bobby Black are his wife of 66 years, Patsy Goodwin Black. His daughter, Cindy Black (Mike Kerry) and son, Glynn Black (Dewana Black). Grandchildren, Jason Black (Kristie Black), Cody McClanahan (Ma’Kaela McClanahan), and James Black (Madison Black). Great Grandchildren, Annistyn Black, McCoy Black, Garrett Boyd, Kinley Boyd, Asher McClanahan, Aurora McClanahan, Audrey Black and Ava Black. Along with other nieces, nephews, friends, and family.
Bobby attended Hebron Baptist Church with his family at an early age and later in life, served as a deacon there alongside his brother, Paul David Black. He taught his kids and grandkids about the love of Jesus and made sure they knew how to pray to Him starting at an early age. He found his greatest joy outdoors—hunting, fishing, working in the woods or cutting firewood. He was one of the last Flatheads that worked in the woods before modern equipment. In his earlier years of life, he thoroughly enjoyed traveling to the mountains with his wife in their custom van. Just as much as he loved these things, he loved his family and friends. He welcomed anyone who stopped by for a visit, always ready with a story, a laugh, or a moment of genuine connection. And no one ever left without hearing his familiar farewell: “Y’all come back and see us.” He was a wonderful father, grandfather and great grandfather, and was loved by all who knew him. He was truly the definition of a hardworking man, and he took great pride in his work. It is an immense privilege to have known and been loved by Bobby Black.
Pallbearers include, Jason Black, Cody McClanahan, James Black, Greg Black, Dustin Wyant and Mark Black.
Honorary Pallbearers include Thomas Ray Buckley, McCoy Black and Asher McClanahan.
His family also would like to say thank you to everyone that stopped by to visit in his last days.
