Funeral services for Mr. Virgil Stamper, age 65 of Columbia, will be held at 12:30 PM Sunday, December 13, 2009 from the chapel of Riser Funeral Home in Columbia with Rev. Edward Dickerson officiating. Interment will follow at Old Bethel Cemetery in Grayson. Visitation will be Saturday evening at the funeral home from 5 PM to 9 PM. Mr. Stamper was born on July 29, 1944 in Grayson to the union of the late Elbridge Edward and the late Edna Margie Childress Stamper and passed away Thursday, December 10, 2009 in Jena. He attended Grayson Church of God and was voted most athletic at Columbia High School his senior year. Survivors include his two sons: Brian Stamper and wife, Lisa Ann of St. Peters, MO and Keith Stamper of Columbia, two brothers: James "Tuck" Stamper and wife, Faye of Fort Worth, TX and Ronald Dean Stamper and wife, Melissa of Olla, six sisters: Vi Scott and husband, Red of Calhoun, Melba Randle and husband, George "Jr" of Shriver, Irma Dark and husband, Lanny of Columbia, Stella Dickerson and husband, Edward of Union, MS, Peggy Lee and husband, Jerry of Union, MS and Rhonda Hanson and husband, Val of Smyrna, TN, three grandchildren: Amber Rose Marie Stamper, Brian Stamper, Jr. and Christopher John Stamper and many nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Mike Buzbee, Terry Burch, Ted Tate, Glen Stamper, Billy Southern, Kenny Scott, Lanny Dark and Steven Dark.
