Vermell Cupples Cox

Vermell Cupples Cox, 90, of Grayson, peacefully left her earthly home on Sunday, July 6, 2025. She took her last breath in her home surrounded by her loving family.

Vermell was born on January 1,1935, in Winnsboro, Louisiana, to Minnie Roberts Cupples Williamson and Millard Levi Cupples. She was preceded in death by her parents; all seven of her siblings; her husband, Willie Freeman Cox; her sons, Marty and Timmy Cox; her daughter, Jan Stamper; and her grandson, Timmy Cox Jr.

Her legacy lives on through her daughter, Rhonda Stapleton; her son, Terry Cox and his wife, Connie; and her sons, Paul and Bill Cox. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as a community of family and friends who were uplifted by her presence. Her life was a light, and that light will continue to shine in all of us.

Vermell was a devoted stay-at-home wife and mother of seven. She cherished sitting on her front porch, watching birds, and singing church hymns. Each day, she lived as a quiet testament to faith, strength, and devotion. A woman of deep spiritual conviction, her kindness and gentle wisdom touched everyone who had the blessing of knowing her. She lived her life in humble service to others, always guided by her unwavering belief in God’s goodness. Her prayers were steady, her heart open, and her spirit calm in the face of life’s storms. She was the matriarch, the prayer warrior, and the one everyone turned to for strength. As we mourn her passing, we rejoice in knowing she is now at peace in the presence of her Savior, reunited with those who went before her. She has fought the good fight and finished the race. Her work on Earth is done.
