Funeral services for Truman Proffer, age 75 of Olla, Louisiana, will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, August 27, 2021, at Olla Pentecostal Church with Bro. Jonathan Crist and Bro. Ronnie Temple officiating. Burial will follow at Chickasaw Cemetery in Olla under the direction of Riser and Son Funeral Home. The family will hold a visitation at the church on Thursday, August 26, 2021 from 5 PM until 8 PM.
Truman Perry Proffer was born November 13, 1945, in Aimwell, Louisiana to the union of his parents, Floyd Proffer and Dollie Franklin Proffer, and he passed from this life to his heavenly home on August 21, 2021 at Citizens Medical Center, Columbia. The name Truman means "faithful or loyal one." He lived up to his name in every way. He was a faithful member of Olla Pentecostal Church and served as a board member there for forty-six years. Truman was a loyal and loving husband and father to his family. He worked hard in the logging woods for 50 years cutting logs. He loved the outdoors, especially deer hunting and fishing. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Truman was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Floyd Proffer, Sr., Charles Proffer, and Glen Proffer; sisters: Ora Lee Anderson, Olene Boyett, and Geral Dean Lucas; nephews: Floyd "Eddo" Proffer, Jr. and Andy Lee Proffer.
Those left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of fifty-six years, Betty LaCaze Proffer; his daughter, Melissa Proffer; grandchidren: Cole Baum and Laurel Paige Goodman; great-grandchildren: Jada Fatheree, Noah Ferguson, and Haken Ferguson; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
Serving as pallbearers will be Cole Baum, Steve Proffer, Darrell Proffer, Mikey Crain, Dusty Crain, and Adam Schrock. Honorary pallbearers are Matt Smith, Justin "Shug" Shell, Jeromy Dabbs, John Johnson, and Stevie Young.
