Stephen Walter McGrew

Funeral services for Stephen Walter McGrew, age 60 of Grayson will be held at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, from the Chapel of Riser and Son Funeral Home with Brother Shane Duke officiating. Interment will follow in the Cross Roads Cemetery.  The family will receive visitors at the Chapel of Riser and Son Funeral Home from 1:00 PM until time of service at 3:00 PM.

Stephen was born in Columbia, Louisiana on August 12, 1963, to the union of Johnny Wilbur McGrew and Bonnie Frazier McGrew.  He passed away to his heavenly home on Monday, November 6, 2023, of a brief illness. Preceding him in death is his father, Johnny Wilbur McGrew, his paternal grandparents, Jessie McGrew and Lena Head McGrew, his maternal grandparents, Cyrus William Frazier and Helen Womack Frazier and his uncle, Billy Cy Frazier.

He is survived by his daughter, Celesta McGrew Carroway (Nick),  granddaughter, Reese Helen Carroway, mother, Bonnie Frazier McGrew, brother John McGrew and former spouse, Cynthia McGrew Blackwell.

Stephen proudly served in the United States Army as the rank of Sergeant in Korea and Germany.

Stephen will forever be remembered as a man of outstanding character, hard working, generous and kind. He was loved by all who knew him and will never be forgotten.

Serving as pallbearers will be Paul Douglas, Ed Macomb, John Whitman, Bryce Stott, Jimmy McGuffee, Jarrod McGuffee, Cary Lee McGuffey, Mike Oram, and Tony Owens. Honorary pallbearers are his co-workers at Stott Wood Company.

In lieu of flowers any planned memorials may be made to the Pilots For Patients Organization or a charity of your choice in honor of Stephen.
