Services for Richard Lee Davis Sr., age 64 of Columbia, will be 10 AM Thursday, July 31, 2008, at the chapel of Riser Funeral Home in Columbia with Rev. Jimmy Goodman officiating. Interment will follow at the Holum Baptist Church Cemetery in Grayson. Visitation will be 5 PM to 9 PM Wednesday evening, July 30, 2008, at Riser Funeral Home in Columbia. Mr. Davis was born on August 19, 1943, in Lake Providence to the union of Roland Daniel and Florence Elizabeth Johnson Davis and passed away Monday, July 28, 2008, at St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe. He was a member of Holum Baptist Church and a retired driller in the oil fields. He was preceded in death by his parents, his three brothers; Roland Davis, Paul Davis and Albert Davis and his special nephew, Scotty Davis. Survivors include his wife of 37 years; Joy Ivy Davis of Columbia, his daughter; Katherine Michelle Davis of Columbia, his son; Richard Lee Davis, Jr. and his wife, Alicia of Columbia, his two brothers; Al Davis and his wife, Joann of Columbia and Alford Davis and his wife, Joan of Midland, TX, his two sisters; Juanita McDaniel and Louise Oglesbee-Thomas both of Oak Grove, his three grandchildren; Kelsi Davis, Konner Davis and Kacey Davis. He will also be remembered as a special "Papaw" to Gage Ruddell, Gunner Ruddell, Zeb Ruddell, Abby Rowland and Ashleigh Rowland. Pallbearers are Harvey Elliott, Tommy Rowland, Mike McDaniel, Berl Braddock, Chris Hunt, and Jim Rowland. Honorary pallbearers are the men's Sunday School Class of Holum Baptist Church, Denny Davis, Kenneth Frith, and his brother-in-laws; Norman Ivy, James Watson, Pat Ivy, Alvin Ivy, Mike Ivy and Joe McKinney.
