Spurgeon Welch Jr

A celebration of life for Spurgeon Welch Jr., will be held 11:00 AM, Sunday, August 7, 2022, at Welcome Home Baptist Church in Hebert, LA., with Bro. Jim McKeithen officiating a Church Service.  Spurgeon was born in Monroe, LA., on May 1, 1929, to the union of his parents Spurgeon Welch Sr and Zula Henry Welch, and passed from this life peacefully at his residence in Columbia on July 29, 2022.  Spurgeon was an Electrician at a papermill until he retired. He was a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, Bus driver, Boy Scout leader, and a loving family man. Those were just a few of his accomplishments. Spurgeon also enjoyed going to church, he loved kids, fishing, hunting, and camping until his health started to decline. Spurgeon was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife Billie June Mercer Welch. Those left to cherish his memory are his son, John Welch (Cynthia), and his daughter Alisa Welch, grandchildren; Ashley Welch, Felicia Ellis (Mike), Komer West (Kelly), and three great-grandchildren.
