Funeral services for Sherwood Smith age 88 of Monroe will be held 1:00 PM Friday June 26, 2026 from the sanctuary of Bosco Baptist Church with Bro. Bruce Underwood officiating. Interment will follow in the Bosco Cemetery under direction of Riser & Son Funeral Home of Columbia. The Smith Family will receive visitors  at the church from 11:30 to 1:00 PM.

Sherwood Smith was born on January 30, 1938 at Monroe, LA to the union of his parents, the late Frank E. Smith SR and Sadie E. Chaplin Smith. He passed from this life on June 20, 2026 at the Legacy Nursing Home in Winnsboro following an extended illness. Mr. Smith served proudly in the United States Air Force from 1956 until 1960. He was an avid outdoorsman  just loving to be outside. He was always busy with something.  He loved his family, his wife and children but his grandchildren and great-grandchildren had a special place in his heart.. He was preceded in death by his parents, by five sisters: Ethel Hilburn, Pat Johnson, Marjorie Hughes, Marie Andras and Mary Terry, and by his brother: Frank E. Smith, JR.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife: Lottie Marie (Lowery) Smith, two sons: Chris Smith and Charles Edwards; three daughters: Ronda Stoddard, Rainy Andrews and Mavis Edwards; three sisters: Sue Watson, Shirley McMorris and Louise Robertson; twelve grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren.

Serving as pallbearers will be Stacey Robertson, Tristan Smith, Joseph Conley, Duane Stoddard, Rodney Laborde and Nicky Hilburn.
