Sharon Sue Thompson, age 75, of Grayson, LA, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.
A woman of unwavering faith, Sharon was a devoted member of Apostolic Truth Tabernacle, where she worshipped wholeheartedly and served as a steadfast prayer warrior. Her love for God was evident in the way she loved people—always putting others first, always checking in, and always caring.
She was a retired Special Education teacher with a heart for every child she taught. She earned her Master’s +30 degree from Northeast Louisiana University (NLU), and spent her career not only teaching, but also mentoring, guiding, and lifting up those who needed it most.
Her passions were as strong and steady as her spirit. She found joy in farming—caring for cows, chickens, rabbits, and her beloved cats—and especially in tending to her garden. She was a skilled and resourceful woman, often found canning vegetables, sewing, or cooking hearty meals with love. She was also a devoted reader, with books always close by. Her constant companion, her dog Peaches, brought her daily comfort and unconditional love.
She was preceded in death by her father Curtis Smith, Sr, mother Louise Smith, son Bart Thompson, and brother Robert Smith.
Those left to cherish her memories are her husband Albert Thompson, son Brett Thompson (Tammy), daughter-in-law Stacey Thompson, a special niece who was like a daughter Stephanie Cox, brothers: Curtis Smith Jr “Wallie” (Bettyann) and Roy Smith (Lisa), sisters: Marilyn Mauffray, Carolyn Freeman (Lewis), Kathy McDonald (Tracy Humphries), grandchildren: Scarlett Frey, Sophie Thompson, Cindy Maudsley, Cheryl Mullenix, Whitney Cole, Shaye DeMoss, Hunter DeMoss, Corey DeMoss, Stormy Billmeier, and 18 great-grandchildren.
Her life was a living example of faith, compassion, and quiet strength. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Serving as Pall Bearers will be Jason Frey, Bill Smith, Zach Maudsley, John Smith, Kurt Lott, Charles Oxner, and Jason Thompson.
