Ruby Fisher Rucker Kirby

Ruby Fisher Rucker Kirby has passed, on April 19, 2017, gently from our world to her heavenly kingdom that was awaiting her. As we go through life, our hope is to leave a legacy of who we are as a person. A lineage of hope, peace, joy and accomplishments; we pray that our children and family recognize those goals and achievements, and that it propels them forward to set their own values. Values that will not be moved by circumstances or choices, these characteristics frame and mold all the people we come in contact with on a daily basis and create a lifetime of change for some. That was Ruby Fisher Rucker Kirby. She was fearless. Her devotion to her family and friends was remarkable. As a young woman her talent was recognizable. She stood out as a beacon with her artistic ability. She was awarded a college scholarship and The American Legion Award a senior at Columbia High School. Later in her life she created a book of short stories which she illustrated. In addition to her collection of writings is a personal family cookbook. The book contains all of her favorite recipes. These books were written as a legacy to be cherished by her family and friends. She was a devoted member of Bethany Baptist Church in Hebert, Louisiana. Being a member of the choir was a joy to her. She married the love of her life, Roy L. Rucker in 1946. They went on to have five children: LaDean Harris and spouse, Donnie, JoeRenda Williams and spouse, Donnie, Theresa Mills and spouse, Donnie, Michael Rucker, spouse Lynn, and Jeff Rucker, spouse Jennifer. Along with her children she is survived by her brother, Marshall Fisher and wife, Bonnie, her sister, Mattie Bannister, and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husbands: Roy L. Rucker and Travis Kirby; her father, William A. Fisher; mother, Mattie Fisher; three brothers, two sisters, and son-in-law, Alva Warner. Ruby Fisher Rucker Kirby was born on April 7, 1930. She was a resident of Hebert, Louisiana and passed away on April 19, 2017. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. The family would like to extend our sincerest gratitude to her son, Michael Rucker and spouse, Lynn for their love, constant care and devotion to her. Their faithful diligence to her made her last days peaceful and loving. Lynn was her angel on earth. As a family we are forever grateful to Lynn, her brother, Junior and her friend, Katie for the exceptional care given to her. Pallbearers are grandsons and great-grandsons.
