Funeral services for Roy Willard McMullen, age 79, of Columbia, LA will be 2:00 PM Thursday from the Columbia chapel of Riser & Son Funeral Home with Bro. Shane Duke officiating. Interment will follow in the Old Union Cemetery at Grayson. The McMullen Family will receive visitors on Wednesday May 15, 2024 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
Roy was born on July 3, 1945 at Columbia to his beloved parents, Willard McMullen and Chlotile Head McMullen. He passed from this life on Monday May 13, 2024 at his residence following an extended illness. Roy was all things Louisiana. He loved hunting, fishing, music and especially dancing. He loved his family and would help anyone without hesitation. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Virginia Kelly, his brother's, Ray McMullen and Jim Bo McMullen; the mother of his children, Wanda Simpson McMullen; his great nephew, Ronnie Harper and his cousin Russell McMullen.
Roy retired from the Louisiana Forestry Commission after thirty-four years of dedicated service. He was a true friend to everyone, always the life of the party, loved joking around and never met a stranger.
Left to cherish his memory are his sons, Curtis McMullen (Shannon ) of Spring, Texas, Craig McMullen, Shane McMullen, Brannon McMullen and Justin McMullen(Bobbie) all of Grayson; his adopted daughter, Janet Fatheree of Grayson, his brother, Billy McMullen; grand daughter Stormi Cook (Jacob), grandson, Milton Coldiron and brother-in-law, Dewayne Simpson (Kathy) of Alexandria, LA; special niece, Cheryl Harper and nieces Erin Simpson (Gary) and Jessica Simpson Pearce (Barrett); great niece, Skeeter Harper of Rayville and several great nieces. Roy also had some special friends: Harry Whittington, Kenneth Fatheree, Bo Crain, Larry Pitters, Dewey Honeycutt and his beloved dog, Dottie.
Serving as pallbearers will be Harry Whittington, Kenneth Fatheree, Bo Crain, Larry Pitters, Dylan Caraway,Dustin Wyant, Glenn Poole and Charles Oxner. Dewey Honeycutt will be an honorary pallbearer.
