Roger Dale Scott

Funeral services for Roger Dale Scott, age 71 of Kelly, LA will be held 2:00 PM, Saturday, August 24, 2024, from the sanctuary of Cross Roads Baptist Church with Bro. John Bradley officiating and his daughters delivering the eulogy. Interment will follow in the Little Star Cemetery east of Kelly, LA. The Scott Family will receive visitors on Friday, August 23, 2024, at Cross Roads Baptist Church from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM.

Roger Dale Scott was born on June 26, 1953, at Galveston, Texas to the union of Edwin Lee Scott  and Billie Wyant Scott and he passed from this life on August 20, 2024, at his residence following a sudden illness.

Mr. Scott was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin L. Scott and Billie Wyant Scott; his twin sister, Brenda Crisp; and mother-in-law, Joyce Mitchell. Roger spent his younger years working at U-Roll-It and Dukes Hardware. He also drove the gas supply truck for Leroy Mixon Oil and Gas for several years. He retired driving cross country, with the love of his life, for Ronnie Dowdy Trucking and UPS Freight.

Left to cherish a lifetime of memories are his beloved wife, Linda Joyce Mitchell Scott, who was his high school sweetheart. They were married on May 23, 1971; two daughters, Cindy Hall (Frankie) of Anna, Texas and Kathy Stapleton (Jamie) of Columbia, LA; his grandchildren: Justin Eady (Angel), Brandon Eady,  Michael Stapleton (Heather), Jacob Eady, and Brooke Beckley (Hogan); great-grandchildren:  Sebastin, Sofia and Serenity Eady, Todd Eady, Ellie, Hudson and Evie Stapleton, Parker and Jamie Beckley; his sister-in-law, Betty Sartin of Rusk, Texas; and brother, Kenney Scott of Alexandria; and a host of nieces and nephews. Also his loving neighbors: Charles and Debbie Poole, Adam and Christine Clark,  and Hunter and Crystal Bassett.

Serving as pallbearers will be Justin Eady, Brandon Eady, Michael Stapleton, Jacob Eady, Hogan Beckley and Hunter Bassett. Honorary pallbearers include Derek Hall, Tanner Hall, Ross Worrell and Robert Worrell.
