Robert Wesley Wilson, Jr.

A proud retiree of the United States Air Force, Robert Wesley Wilson, Jr., age 81, passed away April 1, 2026, at his home on Bouef Lake in Columbia, Louisiana. He was born March 9, 1945, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and a 1963 graduate of Istrouma High School. He dedicated more than 26 years to military service, demonstrating exemplary commitment and distinction in his role. 

He is survived by his wife, Charlene Buring Wilson, his son, William (Holly), two sisters, Carol W. Fitch and Teresa W. Burkett (Buddy), his stepdaughter, Lisa Harrison (Scott), two stepsons, Robin Beach (Robyn) and Robert Beckwith (Barbara), numerous grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert W Wilson, Sr., and Marie Brecheen Wilson, sister, Sandra W. Cash, and brother, James C. Wilson. 

Having been stationed from Patrick Air Force Base in Satellite Beach, Florida, on the east coast to Eielson Air Force Base in Fairbanks, Alaska, on the west coast—and at many other bases in between— it was always his desire to return to his home state of Louisiana, live on a lake, and be able to fish every morning as the sun rose in the sky. No matter where he lived, he welcomed family to visit and enjoyed being their tour guide. Even after retiring, he remained active, taking on various indoor and outdoor projects for himself as well as for family and friends. 

Visitation will be at Riser Funeral Home, Columbia, Louisiana, on Thursday, April 9, 2026, from 1:00-2:00 p.m. with services beginning at 2:00 p.m.
