Rita Joyonne Higdon

Funeral services for Rita Joyonne Summerall Higdon, age 69 of Monroe, will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, July 30, 2022, from the Columbia chapel of Riser and Son Funeral Home with Rev. Eric Hotart officiating. Interment will follow in the Welcome Home Cemetery at Grayson. The Higdon Family will receive visitors on Saturday, July 30, 2022, at the funeral home from 10:00 AM until time of service at 2:00 PM.

Rita Joyonne Summerall Higdon was born on October 23, 1952, at Jonesville, LA to the union of her parents, Charles Hardy Summerall and Lena Hart Summerall, and she passed from this life on Saturday July 23, 2022, at her residence in Monroe, LA. Rita was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a member of the First United Pentecostal Church of the Twin Cities. She was preceded in death by her parents; her grandson, Kevin Ray Plag; her brother, Roy Summerall; and her sisters, Helen Louise Simpson and Barbara Carter.

Left behind to cherish her memory is her husband, Larry W. Higdon of Monroe; her daughters: Wendy Cole (Tommy) of Monroe, Tina Brice (Carl) of Texas and Pamela Crawford (Billy) of West Monroe; her sister, Margie McClure (Fred) of Boyce, LA and a special niece, Misty Carter; her beloved grandchildren: Casey Gilbert, Bryan Willetts, Kayla Ann Plag, Heather Vine, and Dusty Crawford; and her great-grandchildren: Dante' Walters, Damon Gilbert, Celeste Gilbert, and August Crawford.

Serving as pallbearers will be Bryan Willetts, Chris Higdon, Mixion Crafts, Paul Carter, Dewayne Carter, and Billy Crawford.
