Richard Keith Cassels

Funeral Services for Richard Cassels will be held 3:00 PM, Sunday, August 23, 2026 at Riser Funeral Home in Columbia, La. with Ronnie Cassels officiating with interment following in Rosefield Cemetery under the direction of Riser Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Sunday, August 23, 2026 from 1:00 PM until time of service at 3:00. 

Richard Keith Cassels was born August 4, 1959 in Eunice, Louisiana to the union of his parents. Ronald Lawson Cassels and Lucille Fontenot and passed from this life August 21, 2026 at LSU in Shreveport due to an extended illness. Richard was a simple man who loved his family and the time he spent with them. He cherished and loved his brothers more than they will ever know. Richard formed a bond with his grandson Eric, as they been roommates for a little while. Richards family can not put into words how much love and appreciation they have for his son-in-law, Bugs who played a big part in his care taking role in his time of need, but also for his brother Ronnie who spent countless hours at his side during his sickness the last 4 and 1/2 months, doing whatever was needed but most importantly making memories they will always cherish. He enjoyed cooking, making salsa, drinking coffee, and keeping a dip of skoal close by. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and anything else he could do outside. Richard also enjoyed sports. His favorite baseball team was the Houston Astros, and in football he rooted for the New England Patriots. 

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Charlotte Perkins. Those left to cherish his memory are his stepfather, Malcolm Jameson; son, Josh Cassels (Alyssa); daughter, Caitlin Cummings (Antoine "Bugs"); brothers, Ronnie Cassels (Vickie), Randy Cassels (Lydia), John Eric Jameson (Selena); grandchildren, Braylee Cassels, Eric Cummings, Aliyah Cummings; his good buddy, Kirk Renfrow; and a host of other family and friends.

Pallbearers will include, Hayden Cassels, Shelby Miller, Bryan Cassels, Corey Cassels, Deven Cupstid, and Eric Cummings.
