Randy G. Thornton

Funeral services for Randy G.Thornton, age 73, of Urania, will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, November 3, 2016 at Riser Funeral Home in Olla with Bro. Denver McBroom and Bro. Bo Prather officiating. Interment will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery in Olla. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM at the funeral home. Randy was born April 4, 1943 to the union of Willie and Mable Fouts Thornton in Urania and he passed from this life on October 30, 2016 at Hardtner Medical Center in Urania. He was a truck driver for 35 years and operated a service station for 10 years in Urania. He loved woodworking and horse trading. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister: Francille Schultz; four brothers: Billy Thornton, Bobby Thornton, Norman Thornton, and Joe Thornton. He is survived by his wife of 53 years: Carolyn Holloway Thornton of Urania; son: Vincent Thornton of Urania; two brothers: W.M. “Dub” Thornton of Urania; Melvin “Bud” Thornton and his wife Diana of Olla; two grandchildren: Brandon Thornton and his wife Morgan of Natchitoches; Jessica Thornton of Urania; great-granddaughter: Annabeth Thornton. Pallbearers will be John Thornton, Zachary Thornton, Josh Young, James Callender, Robin Thornton, and Donnie Taylor. Honorary Pallbearers will be Clarence Moore and Tommy Driggers.
