Phyllis Grissom Daves

Phyllis Grissom Daves was born October 5, 1952 in Hayti, Missouri, to the union of her parents, Ezra Matthew Grissom and Varnell Burgett Grissom. She passed away at her home on December 24, 2025, at the age of 73, after a brave battle with cancer. Phyllis worked for and retired from the Tensas Parish Sheriff's Office where she was a 911 Emergency Dispatcher. Since her retirement she enjoyed working in her yard and flower beds. She also loved to play on her phone and keep up with her Facebook. Phyllis was always the life of the party. She loved going to concerts and especially loved to hear her favorite entertainer, Elton John. Her greatest love was her family. She always loved visiting with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents. Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, John M. Daves (Loretta) and Brian W. Daves, all of St. Joseph, LA; her sister, Marcella Vinson (Mike) of Newellton, LA; grandchildren, John M. Daves Jr. of Waterproof, LA and Kelly Dove (Wade) of Rayville, LA; and her great-grandchildren: Hayden Daves, John M. Daves III, Carter Daves, and Braxton Dove.

A memorial service for Phyllis was held at 3pm, Sunday, December 28, 2025, at Memorial Park Cemetery, Tallulah, LA.
