Funeral Services for Perry Eugene Rice, age 90, of Hebert will be held 3:00 PM Thursday September 3, 2026 from the Columbia Chapel of Riser & Son Funeral Home with Bro. Lindle Stewart and Bro. Ronnie Watkins officiating. Interment will follow in the Hebert Cemetery at Hebert, Louisiana. The Rice family will receive visitors between the hours of 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM at the funeral home.

Perry Eugene Rice was born on  February 19, 1936 in Winnsboro, LA to the union of his parents, Perry Rice and Myra Henderson Rice. He passed from this life on August 30, 2026, at his residence in Hebert. He was preceded in death by his parents and by his beloved wife of fifty one years, Margie Rice; and siblings, Donald, Lavelle, Wachel, Eloise, Essie, Loyce, Vetoil and Laverne.

Eugene was a woodcraftsman. He could make anything from candleholders, swings and whatever he set his mind too. Eugene was drafted and served in the United States Army. He was a faithful member of New Light Baptist Church where he shared his faith with his good friend and brother in Christ, Bro. Lindle. Eugene was always known as a family man (the grandchildren called him "Ole Daddy"), loving his children and grandchildren immensely. He loved to garden and grow tomatoes. He loved country music and sitting on the porch drinking coffee and don't forget he loved his sweets. He loved to watch Gunsmoke and the news. He was a simple man and lived a simple life. 

Left to cherish his memory is his son, Mike Rice (Susan); his daughter, Myra Watkins (Randy); his brothers, Herman and N J; his sisters, Jessie Massey and Wanda Cox; his beloved grandchildren: Michelle Risher (David), Kevin Rice (April), Ronnie Watkins (Casey), Chuck Watkins (Jessica); great-grandchildren: Hunter, Cameron, Courtney, Annabelle, Waylon, Audrie, Anna Grace, Gus, Eli, Freya, and Carli.

Pallbearers will be Hunter Risher, Cameron Risher, Randy Watkins, and David Risher.

Honorary pallbearer will be Kevin Rice, and Waylon Watkins.
