Odis Randolph "Butch" Darden III

Funeral services for Odis "Butch" Darden will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, March 9, 2024, from the sanctuary of Cross Roads Baptist Church, Grayson, LA with Bro. Shane Duke officiating. Interment will follow at Welcome Home Cemetery under the direction of Riser and Son Funeral Home. The family will have a visitation at the church prior to the service Saturday beginning at noon until time of service at 2:00.

Odis Randolph "Butch" Darden III was born July 16, 1961, in Columbia, LA to the union of his parents, Odis Randolph Darden, Jr. and Donna Annette James Darden, and he passed from this life at his home in Grayson on March 5, 2024, after a brief illness. He was preceded in death by his parents and his grandparents: Odis and Lorena Darden and Walter and Mildred James. Butch worked most of his life as a millwright repairing and rebuilding turbine engines. He was a devoted son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. When he was younger he enjoyed playing baseball and golfing. He enjoyed a good cup of coffee while sitting around NAPA with his friends. He was always the life of the party and had a good story to tell. Butch enjoyed spending time with his grandkids whether it was playing with them in the swimming pool or watching them play ball. Many weekends, he and Vickie would get in the car or Jeep and just start driving. They never knew where they would end up and sometimes it might be in another state. It didn't matter where they went as long as they were together and enjoying the sights. Butch was greatly loved and will be missed tremendously.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Vickie Nugent Darden; son, Dolph Darden (Heather); daughters: Donna Parker (Randy) and Dawn Plunkett (Brad); brothers, Johnny Darden (Cheryl) and Deno Darden (Cheryl); grandchildren: Taylor Gainous (Justin), Korbin Stowe, Allison Parker, Mary Beth Burt (William), Kayden Chapman, Branci Plunkett, Will Plunkett, Landon Darden, Luke Darden, and Landry Darden.
Serving as pallbearers will be Johnny Darden, Deno Darden, Jeff Roberts, Mark Roberts, Randy Roberts, and Ronnie Coates. Honorary pallbearers Ronnie Darden, Rex Darden, Keith Thompson, and Todd Long.
