Funeral services for Myrtle Richmond Sanders, will be held at 12:00 PM, Friday, May 22, 2026, at Riser and Son Funeral Home, Columbia. with Bro. Dylan Adkins officiating. Interment will follow at Fellowship Cemetery, Columbia. A visitation for family and friends will be held Thursday, May 21, 2026, at the funeral home from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM and again Friday from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM.
Myrtle was born in Columbia, Louisiana, on February 27, 1936, to the union of her parents, Agnes Taylor Richmond and Jessie Thomas Richmond. She passed away on May 16, 2026, at the age of 90, after a full and well-lived life. Myrtle always kept busy. Myrtle worked at the hospital for many years as a dieticians aid. She was a good mother to her children but she especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She loved to cook for them and go shopping with them. She was a sweet lady with a big heart that grew with each new addition to the family. She was faithful to go to church when her health allowed it. As she got older, she enjoyed keeping her mind sharp by reading and working word search puzzles. Myrtle was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Gradie Sanders; infant son, Michael Sanders; daughter, Debbie Wooldridge; granddaughter, April Breland; and her five siblings.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Sandra Hicks (Ronnie), Wanda Sanders, Donna Simons, Theresa Sanders Girod, and Ronnie Sanders (Velma); her beloved grandchildren: Misty Sanders, Samantha Hatten, Jason Hicks, Justin Hicks, Kevin Breland (Misty), Adam Simons (Mistie), Jeremy Simons (Charli), Brandon Girod, Tiffany Girod, Lee Wooldridge, and James Wooldridge; 28 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jeremy Simons, Dylan Breland, Cole Buffington, Aubrey Ward, Larry Wayne Adkins, Jr., and Brandon Girod. Honorary pallbearers are Adam Simons, Justin Hicks, Jason Hicks, Kevin Breland, and Warner Hatten.
