Mildred Ann Amberg Harter was born December 21, 1940 in Georgetown, Louisiana to the union of her parents, John Amberg and Annie Mae Gaar Amberg and passed from this life on January 3, 2024 at her residence surrounded by her loved ones after a lengthy illness. Mildred was a member of Olla First Baptist Church. She loved cooking and working in the yard, and making her peanut brittle that only she could make paper thin. Mildred played basketball (and let's not forget her great hook shot) and graduated from Georgetown High School. After that she went to Northwestern State University  where she graduated with a degree in education and went on to teach for thirty years in LaSalle, Grant, and Caldwell Parishes. Mildred had some great accomplishments but her family was her favorite. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Jimmy Amberg; and her brother-in-law, Philip Perego. Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of over fifty-eight years, Bobby Harter; two sons: John Lynn Harter of Olla and Todd Harter (Maureen) of Baton Rouge; daughter, Melanie Parker (Phillip) of Benton; three grandchildren, Amanda Tate (Dustin) of Hallsville, Tx., Brandon Parker (Courtlyn) of Shreveport, La., Hannah Parker of Ruston, La.; four great-grandsons, Austin Tate, Caleb Tate, Parker Tate, Hudson Parker; two sisters: Cherrie Sue Jackson (Paul) of Sulphur and her twin sister, Frances Perego of Shreveport, La.; sister-in-law, Linda Amberg from Georgetown; and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Pallbearers will include Dustin Tate, Jay Amberg, Eric Perego, Geoff Perego, Phillip Parker, and Tracy Breithaupt.
