Maxine Miriam McClanahan Duchesne

Funeral services for Maxine McClanahan Duchesne, age 82, of Columbia will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday April 16, 2024 from the Columbia chapel of Riser & Son Funeral Home with Bro. Don Wright officiating. Interment will follow in the Bethany Cemetery at Hebert. The Duchesne Family will receive visitors on Tuesday from 12:00 Noon to time of service at 2:00 PM at the funeral home.

Maxine Miriam McClanahan Duchesne was born on  July 13, 1941 at Hebert, LA to the union of Ruby McClanahan and Annie Hall McClanahan. Maxine was one of thirteen born to this union. She was preceded in death by her parents, ten siblings and two husbands Ray Duchesne and Dub Whittington, and by two daughters, Melba Emmons and Sheila Whittington. Mrs. Duchesne retired with the US Department of Agriculture with thirty years of service to her office and her community.

To know her was to love her  and she passed away peacefully on April 13, 2024 at the Haven Nursing Center in Columbia after a long fought battle with Alzheimers Disease. She is now at rest.

Left to cherish her memory are two sons, Randall Duchesne (Celeste Wallace) and Dolyn "Bubba" Duchesne (Sheila); two sisters: Vera Woods and Margie Roberts; her beloved grandchildren: Alvin Emmons (Kim), Rebecca Brown, Mendy Duchesne, Kimberly Duchesne, James Randall Duchesne (Dori), Tyler Duchesne, Alyssa Duchesne and Cierra Herrington. Her great-granchildren: Julia Patton, Isaac Brown, Elianna Brown, Joel Brown, Daisy Garsee, Christian Garsee, Colter Garsee, , Aubrey Garsee, Rylee Duchesne, Landon Slade, Drake Duchesne, Ella Kate Duchesne, Olivia Jane Duchesne and Harper Jo Duchesne.

Serving as pallbearers will be Issac Brown, Tyler Duchesne, Randall Duchesne, Deno Darden, Ryan Wallace and Darryl Speegle.

In lieu of flowers the Duchesne Family requests that donations be made to the Bethany Cemetery, Columbia, LA 71418
