Mary Katherine Newsom

Funeral services for Mary Newsom age 87 of Ruston, LA will be held 1:00 PM Friday January 21, 2022, graveside at the Sikes Baptist Church Cemetery at Sikes with Rev. Bill Reid officiating. Services are under direction of Riser & Son Funeral Home of Columbia.

Mary Katherine Taylor Newsom was born on November 8, 1934 at Crowville, LA to the union of her parents Walter Taylor and Jessie Arnold Taylor and she passed from this life on January 17, 2022 at the Alpine Nursing Center in Ruston.

Mrs. Newsom was preceded in death by her husband Karl Denton Newsom and ten siblings. She was a loving mother and grandmother. Mrs. Newsom loved to read and she was a lifelong member of Shady Grove Baptist Church, west of Olla, LA.

Left to cherish her memory is her sons: Darrell Newsom and wife Cheryl of Ruston, LA and Keith Newsom and wife Karen of Ruston, LA; her grandchildren: Joshua Newsom of San Diego, CA; Karley Broussard (Connor) of Ruston and Kramer Newsom (Lauren) of Ruston; her great-grandchildren: Knox Newsom, Denton Broussard and Baker Broussard.
