Mary Jane Farrow Mullin, a lifelong resident of Columbia, Louisiana, passed away September 7, 2025, at the age of 94, surrounded by her loving family. She was born November 17, 1930, to her parents, Curtis Farrow and Audria Kendrick Farrow. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Charles Earl "Moon" Mullin, and sister-in-law, Ann Farrow.
A true Southern belle, Mary Jane lived her life with graciousness, strength, and service to others in so many ways. After high school she attended Louisiana Tech University where she served as a Blue Jacket, a select group of upperclassmen who welcomed and mentored incoming freshmen. She earned her degree in secondary education majoring in English. She taught English and reading for over 30 years where she had an impact on the lives of her many students. Mary Jane played a vital role in the transformation of the Schepis building into the Schepis Museum. As a talented artist herself, having a place to showcase art and offer the community a place to gather and enrich their lives was very important to her. She enjoyed playing bridge with friends and cooking for her family. She was a wonderful cook. She collected cookbooks and was continually trying new recipes. Mary Jane was a devoted and active member of Columbia Methodist Church until her health prevented her from attending. She loved her family and was a devoted wife and an adoring mother and grandmother. She was greatly loved and will be missed by family and friends alike.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Sharon Mullin Whitlow (Ricky) and Charles Edward "Buster" Mullin (Jackie); brother, Donald Farrow; granddaughter, Amy Leigh Womack (Gabe); and great-grandchildren, Jackson Alan Hudson and Kipper Leigh Hudson. The family would like to extend a special thank you to her sitters, Angel Silvie, Debbie Fagan, and Irma Garcia for the special care and loving kindness they showed to Mary Jane.
A Service of Remembrance for Mary Jane will be held at 12:00 PM, Saturday, September 13, 2025, at the Columbia Methodist Church. Prior to the service, the family will have a visitation beginning at 11:00 AM.
