Marjorie Braddock Cain

Marjorie Dian Braddock Cain, 70, of Grayson, passed away Wednesday, February 15, 2023, surrounded by her family after a brief battle with metastatic breast cancer. She is preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Maurice Braddock and Benny Braddock.

She was born on December 18, 1952 to Marshal and Bethra Braddock in Grayson, Louisiana. She graduated from Caldwell Parish High School in 1970. After high school, she worked at The Food Stamp Office and then Dr. Larry Blackmon's office. She graduated from Northeast Louisiana University in 1987 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She worked at EA Conway Medical Center in the NICU. She then worked at North Monroe Community Hospital as a Diabetic Educator and a wound care nurse. She also worked for North Monroe Home Health. For a brief time, she moved to Tuscaloosa, Alabama where she worked as a Diabetic Educator for DCH Health System. Upon her return to Louisiana, she worked for Vantage Health Plan until her retirement in 2017.

Marjorie's favorite thing to do was quilt. She made many beautiful quilts in her free time. She loved making them and giving them as gifts to her family and friends. Marjorie was a member of the Northeast Louisiana Quilt Guild-SunShine Chapter. She served as president from June 2022 until she resigned due to her health in January 2023.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Rocky Harold Cain. Her daughters and sons-in-law, Valarie and Rick Bowlin (Sterlington), and Heather and Michael Grayson ( Sterlington). She has five grandchildren: Devan Bowlin, Connor Bowlin (Brianna), Brice Bowlin, Claire Grayson, and Carlie Grayson. She also leaves behind her favorite child, her maltese, Macy Grace. Her brothers: Berl Braddock (Myrtis) from Grayson, Lawrence Ray (Helen) from Grayson, and Mark Braddock (Alice) also from Grayson. Her sisters: Elaine Simmons from Grayson, Jean Crain (Dale) from Grayson, and Maurine Lowrey from Sterlington.

Visitation will be held on Friday, February 17, 2023, from 5:00pm-8:00pm at Riser Funeral Home in Columbia, Louisiana. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, February 18, 2023, at 2:00pm at Grayson Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Welcome Home Cemetery. Services will be led by Bro. John Egbert, Bro. Danny McIlveene, and Bro. Keith Evans. Pallbearers will be Ray Braddock, Brad Crain, Randy Duchesne, Eugene Dunn, Steve Joiner, Kevin Lowrey, Carl Simons, and Gary Watts.

The family would like to thank the following people: Compassus Hospice staff including our sweet and caring nurse, Amy Mckenzie. St. Francis Medical Center Radiology staff for all of their help. Also many thanks to Stacye, Amanda, and Ramona. Also the Infusion Department at the Northeast Louisiana Cancer Institute for their compassion and care.
