Funeral services for Maria Angelina Melton will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, January 13, 2022 from the chapel of Riser and Son Funeral Home, Columbia, LA with Father Dale Meade officiating and Tommy Brown giving the eulogy. Interment will follow at the Melton Cemetery, Winnfield, LA under the direction of Riser Funeral Home. The family will have a visitation at the funeral home on Wednesday, January 12, 2022, from 5 PM until 8 PM.
Maria “Angie” Melton was born in Mission, TX on April 29, 1949, to the union of her parents, Francisco and Victoria Guerrero, and she passed from this life January 10, 2022, at her home in Columbia. Angie was an active member of St. John's Catholic Church in Columbia. She was a lady with many talents and Interests. She enjoyed crafting, drawing, painting, sewing, and cooking. She enjoyed going on trips with her traveling sisters and brothers-in-law and traveling with her husband to auctions and gun shows. She worked various places throughout her life and she always worked hard at whatever it was she was doing. Angie loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a loving, sweet person and would do anything she could to help others. She was loved by her family and will be in their hearts forever. Angie was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Roy Guerrero.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Leonard Melton; daughters: Christie Hatten (Bobby) and Kim Cornwell (Carl); son, Aaron Melton; stepson, Shannon Melton (Melody); sisters: Mary Brown (Tommy), Minerva Roberts (Russ), Aida Soignier (Bruce), and Jo Ann Guerrero; grandchildren: Tyler Hatten, Corbin Adkins, Connor Cornwell, Riley Hatten, Reese Cornwell, Dannon Melton, and Tristan Hatten; and great-grandchildren: Dayton Melton, Brinley Jones, and Jackson Hatten.
Serving as pallbearers will be Tyler Hatten, Aaron Melton, Connor Cornwell, Corbin Adkins, Tristan Hatten, and Lucas Roberts. Honorary pallbearers are Tommy Brown, Russ Roberts, Bruce Soignier, Scott Soignier, Heath Soignier, Rusty Roberts, Quincy Brown, and Chad Guerrero.
