Funeral services for Margaret Farmer Coleman will be held Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at 1:00 PM, at Riser Funeral Home, Olla, LA, with Bro. Lamar Carpenter officiating. Interment will follow at Olla Cemetery. The family will have visitation on Tuesday, March 24, 2026 from 4 PM until 8 PM, at the funeral home, and again on Wednesday, prior to the service from 9 AM until 1 PM.
Margaret Farmer Coleman left this world with her family by her side on March 22, 2026. She was born November 15, 1947, in Holly Ridge, Louisiana, to her parents, Clyde Farmer, Sr, and Rita Bertha Aaron Farmer. She married the love of her life, James E. Coleman, on June 15, 1965. She attended Northeast Louisiana University obtaining her teaching degree. She taught at Head Start for many years and owned her own daycare for a time. Margaret was very creative and was an artist at heart. She was able to cross-stitch and did beautiful embroidery. She had her own pottery wheel and kiln and made pottery but her love was painting. She enjoyed reading and working puzzles. Margaret traveled extensively in Europe with her husband while he was working in Holland. She also loved to go to La Vegas. Margaret acquired a collection of beautiful jewelry pieces while traveling in Europe She designed some pieces herself but loved all of them. Margaret loved her family and they loved her. She will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Coleman; father, Clyde Farmer, Sr.; her mother, Rita Bertha Aaron Farmer; brothers, Clyde Farmer and James Farmer; and sisters, Ruth Dotson and Alice Jones.
Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Philip Coleman (Melinda); daughters, Hannah Coleman (James) and Patti Evans; sister, Dot Glidewell; brother, Leon Farmer; grandchildren: Rikki Evans, Josh Becker, Daniel Coleman and Cara Culpepper; great-grandchildren: Makenzie Smith, Kendall, Andrew, and Harper Evans.
Serving as pallbearers will be Kolby Murray, Dusty Farmer, Jerry Lynn Glidewell, Gus Howard, Willie Sharp, and Josh McBroom. Honorary pallbearer is Jeffery Aycock.
