Louis "Dumpy" Darwin Cockerham

Funeral Services for Louis “Dumpy” Darwin Cockerham, age 85, of Olla, LA will be held Saturday, October 31, 2020 at 10:00 AM at Riser Funeral Home in Columbia, LA with Rev. Sherman Jones officiating. Interment will follow at Good Hope Cemetery, Kelly, LA. Visitation will be Friday, October 30, 2020 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Riser Funeral Home, Columbia, LA. Dumpy was born August 31, 1935 in Olla, LA to the union of his parents, Baxter Cockerham and Etta Whittington Cockerham, and he passed from this life October 28, 2020 at his residence in Olla, LA. Dumpy was a retired sales manager and served in the Army. Dumpy loved fishing, dancing, working in his garden, mowing the grass, and hanging out with his running buddy Rickey Stowe. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Rose Cockerham; daughter, Edna LaCroix; two brothers: Huey “Frog” Cockerham and Bobby Joe Cockerham; one sister, Francis Westbrook; the loving “momma” that raised him after his mother’s passing, Katie Cockerham and the mother of his children, Hazell Dayton. Those left to cherish his memory are his children: Louis “Buddy” Cockerham, Jr. (Paula), Robby Randall, Bonnie Bates (Troy), and Paula Hale (Delan); brothers: W.B. “Bill” Cockerham (Mary Helen), and Kenneth Cockerham (Brenda); grandchildren: Kodey, Kameron, Hunter, Alexis, Jesse, John David, Katelyn, Jana, Jason, Drake, Jordan, Whitney, Collin, Jacob and Ja’Kobi; great-grandchildren: Haze, John Louis, Kersyen, Nash, Avery, MaKayla, Luke, Gavin, Grace and Lilly; and sister-in-law, Bonnie Gresham. Serving as pallbearers will be Rickey Stowe, Kodey Bates, John David Cockerham, Hunter Hale, Johnny Blackwell and Jesse Cockerham. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Riser Funeral Home, PO Box 57, Columbia, LA 71418 to help with the funeral expenses.
