Lora Anne Shell May, age 85, was born on March 11, 1938, in Grayson, Louisiana, to her parents, Charlie Pendleton Shell and Mary Juanita Brown Shell. She entered Heaven's gates on January 27, 2024, after a brief illness.
Lora Anne married the love of her life, Miles E."Pete" May, on January 4, 1957. They had been married almost 50 years at the time of his death in 2006. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her three brothers, James Flowerree, Elton Shell, and C.A."Pete" Shell, and her two sisters, Frances Walker and Earline Underwood.
She is survived by her son, Mark May (Diane) and her daughter, Molly May. Her grandchildren include Lanee' Cotten (Robert), Ashley Wallace (Jarrod), Mallory May, Katie Arnold (Colton), and Jonathan Folds. Her great-grandchildren include Addison Cotten, Hanna Cotten, Rylan Wallace, Presley Wallace, Avery Cotten, and Jack Wallace.
Lora Anne and her husband were founding members of Grace Baptist Church in Grayson in 1978. She was committed to her church and was known for her love, kindness, concern for others, and her steadfast faith.
She worked in the Caldwell Parish School District for 30 years, serving as a paraprofessional in the special education classroom. She had a heart for children and had a gift for making them feel loved and wanted.
Lora Anne enjoyed living a simple life full of joy and thankfulness. Her spirit was contagious, and she made friends wherever she went.
Her advice was simple: "Trust in the Lord with all thy heart, and lean not unto thy own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths." Proverbs 3:5-6.
