Lewis Arvil Jordan

Lewis A. Jordan, known as Arvil, passed away at LSU Medical Center in Shreveport, LA on December 8, 2012 after a lengthy illness. He was a resident of the Haven Nursing Home in Columbia for the last few months. Lewis was born in Winnfield, LA to the union of Ernest C. Jordan and Ozie Mae Lucas Jordan on December 6, 1934. Arvil grew up in Clarks, LA and was known as the paper boy. He graduated from Clarks High School in 1953. He attended Northeast Louisiana University majoring in accounting. He served 4 years in the United States Marine Corps and the Marine Reserve. He was honorably discharged in 1962 with the rank of Sergeant E4. He was employed by Cities Service for a number of years. He owned and operated Jordan's Grocery Store Between Clarks and Grayson, LA. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother: Melvin Jordan; sister: Louise Jordan. He is survived by a sister: Elaine Kenworthy of Clarks, LA; brother: Lloyd Jordan and his wife Mary of Converse, LA; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday, December 12, 2012 from the chapel of Riser Funeral Home in Columbia with Bro. Jimmy Goodman officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be at Old Bethel Cemetery located outside of Clarks.
