Leo Smith was born at Columbia, LA on October 2, 1964 to the union of his parents, Lonnie Smith and Lucy Maureen Newsom Smith. He passed from this  life on April 20, 2026 at his residence in Columbia. 

Leo spent his life working as a logger. He loved working in the woods and also did sawmill work He loved being in the country and in the great outdoors. He loved to fish and enjoyed  his family and friends so much. He was a good person and was loved by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents; by his brother: Sylvester Lane Whitten and by two sisters: Janie Young and Tina Smith Rogers.

Left to cherish his memory are his sisters: Lavada Smith McIlwain and Fraley Whitten Frith; his nieces and nephews: Logan Whitten, Jimmy Hatten, Linda Renee Hatten, April Lewis, Kristine Byrd, Ashley Rogers, Rodney Smith, David McIlwain and numerous great nieces and nephews. His grandson: Manuel Cole.
