Lavern Sikes Roshto

Lavern Sikes Roshto, age 81, of Urania, Louisiana went to her heavenly home on Sunday, October 4th, 2026 at Haven Nursing Home surrounded by loved ones. She was born on October 28th, 1944 in New Orleans, LA to Lloyd Sikes and Annie Killingsworth Sikes.

Her family was the greatest blessing of her life. Nothing made her happier than everyone gathering together, laughing & telling stories, especially on a Sunday at lunch, and making memories that would last a lifetime. If she knew you, she loved you. She considered everyone family and always welcomed anyone and everyone with an open home. She enjoyed living in the town of Urania, in which she lived in for 65 years.

Lavern married Joe Roshto on July 29th, 1961 and they had 6 wonderful children that they were so proud of. They were married for 29 years until Joe passed away on May 14th, 1990.
Lavern, better known as Momma or Mammaw, was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother to many!
She spent her days watching the squirrels eat, making her rounds in her riding chair to the post office, the drug store, and to Ivy’s. She loved to know where everyone was at and what everyone was doing each and every day.

She is survived by her children, Cheryl and Darrell Newsom, Terry and Janelle Ranton, Brian and Tracey Roshto, Warren Roshto, Bruce & Dana Roshto, and Susie and Mike Dunn; her grandchildren, Josh Newsom, Cayla Durham (Clint), Zach Ranton, Ashley Smith (Bradley), Taylor Stringer (Levi), Tyler Roshto (Emma), Josh Grant, Charlie Patterson, Joelee Roshto, Jessica Pruett (Trent), and Preslee Williams (Ian); her great-grandchildren, Caroline Durham, Samuel, Layla, and Rhett Smith, Dawson, Sarah Jane, and Whitley Stringer, Noah Patterson, Waylon, Delta, and Ellis Pruett, and Navy Williams; and a beloved bonus daughter Judy Poole.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her siblings, Billie Nethery, Junior (George) Sikes, Travis Sikes, Kenneth Sikes, and Shirley Cook; her daughter Carol Roshto Ranton; her beloved grandson, Cody Wayne Ranton.

A special thanks to the town of Urania for always keeping at eye out for her, we are forever grateful.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 7th, 2026 at Pinehill Baptist Church from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. The funeral will be on Thursday, October 8th, 2026 at 10:00 AM with brother Stacey Pitman officiating. Graveside services will follow at the Urania Cemetery.

Pallbearers will include Josh Newsom, Tyler Roshto, Bradley Smith, Trent Pruett, Ian Williams, and JJ Hillestad.
Honorary Pallbearers will include Ronnie Woods, Josh Grant, Zach Ranton, Charlie Patterson, Clint Durham, James McAnally, Levi Stringer, Dawson Stringer, Ayden Hillestad, and Bradley Poole.
