Laura Geraldine Bailey

Funeral services for Laura Geraldine “Gerry” Kolb Bailey, age 87, of Columbia, Louisiana, will be held at 2 PM, Thursday, December 23, 2021, from the chapel of Riser and Son Funeral Home, Columbia with Bro. Eric Harriman officiating. Interment will follow at Fellowship Cemetery, west of Columbia. The family will hold a visitation on Wednesday, December 22, 2021, at the funeral home from 5 PM until 8 PM.

Laura Geraldine Bailey was born July 1, 1934, in Georgetown, Louisiana to the union of her parents, David and Ruby (Worsham) Kolb, and she passed from this life Sunday, December 19, 2021, at her home. Gerry was a member of First Baptist Church of Columbia and loved working in the church nursery for many years. She loved traveling, working all kinds of puzzles and fishing. Her favorite hobby was quilting, and she had some amazing quilts. Her greatest treasure was her grandchildren that she dearly loved. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James C. “Dude” Bailey; sons: Dennis J. Bailey and Larry D. Bailey; grandsons: Scott Denison, Jessie Lynn Bailey, and James “JC” Bailey; granddaughter, Brandy L. Bailey; brothers: Charles D. Kolb, Gene Kolb, and Billy Kolb; and her sister, Bobbie Brown.
She is survived by daughters: Wanda M. Robbins of Hobe Sound, FL, Shirley Denison (James) of Tyler, TX, Sarah L. Atchison of Columbia, LA, Becky D. Allen of Ridgecrest, LA, and Betty Ann Girod (Carl) of Arlington, TX; sons: Benny C. Bailey of Columbia, LA, David H. Bailey (Joyce) of Columbia, LA, John E. “Johnny” Bailey (Tammy) of Columbia, LA; daughter-in-law, Cindy Bailey (Paul) of Marion, LA; as well as, nineteen grandchildren, forty-four great-grandchildren, seventeen great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Serving as pallbearers will be Heath Bailey, Shane Robbins, Jason Atchison, Aaron Morales, Paul Willis, and Shane Wilson. Honorary pallbearers are Scooter Denison, Dee Fatheree, and Justin Bailey.
The family wishes to thank St. Joseph Hospice and their nurse, Angie for all the kindness and love they showed to the family. They would also like to say a very special thank you to Cindy Bailey, who was so dedicated to taking care of Mrs. Gerry, especially in her final days.
