Kim Ivy Schmidt

Kim Denise Ivy Schmidt, age 67 of Columbia, was born September 25, 1958, in Nacogdoches, TX, to the union of her parents, Melvin Marlon Ivy and Shirley McGee Ivy. AFter an extended illness, she passed away peacefully on August 8, 2026, at Citizens Medical Center in Columbia, LA, surrounded by her loving family. 

Kim lived life on her own terms, with a freedom and sense of adventure that always led to something new to enjoy and behold. Her adventures took her across the United States, sometimes on a motorcycle! Kim loved her family, but she especially loved her grandchildren. She always made time for each of them and made them feel special. Throughout her life she enjoyed reading in her spare time. After moving to Columbia, she attended Grayson Baptist Church. 

Kim was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert Schmidt, and her sister Karen Moylan. Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters: Aubrey Cornwell (Ethan), Melody Thompson, and Kelsey Medina; her sister, Suzanne Maas (Clyde); brother, Mark Ivy (Kay); grandchildren: Gizelle Cornwell, Scarlett Cornwell, Tyler Paluch, Hannah Paluch, Wyatt Medina, Mason Medina, Levi Medina, and Gage Medina; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. 

Honoring her wishes, Kim will be cremated. There are no services planned at this time but the obituary will be updated when any plans are finalized.
