Kevin Lane Young, Sr.

Funeral services for Kevin Lane Young, Sr., 58 of Columbia, Louisiana will be held 1:00 PM, Saturday, September 30, 2023, from the Columbia chapel of Riser & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Ron Lowe officiating. Interment will immediately follow in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Columbia. The Young Family will receive visitors on Saturday from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM at the funeral home.

Kevin Lane Young, Sr. was born on April 30, 1965, at Monroe, LA to the union of his parents, Elmer Lee Maness and Joyce Lane Strange, and he passed from this life on September 27, 2023, at the Christus St. Francis Cabrini Medical Center in Alexandria following an extended illness.

Kevin was preceded in death by his mother and step father, Joyce Lane and Marvin Stevens. Mr. Young was a long term member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church.  He was a truck driver for thirty-two years, a mechanic, and a man of many talents. He loved his Lord and loved his Faith. Hunting and fishing were things he enjoyed as well.  He was always in his garden or in his shop. The greatest pride and joy of his life was his grandchildren.

Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife, Karen Young of Columbia;  two sons, Kevin Lane Young, Jr.  (fiancee Hannah) of Columbia and Justin Lane Young of Columbia; his daughter, Monica Tate (Devon) of Alexandria; his father, Elmer Lee Maness; his brothers, Kenneth Young of Columbia, Charles "Chucky" Cornwell (Susan) of Columbia, Carl Cornwell (Kim) of Columbia, Marvin Stevens, Jr. (Christy) of Kelly and Cody Maness of Murphreesboro, Tennessee; his sister, Liegh Barrett of Denton, Texas; and his beloved grandchildren, Elijah Young, Gregory Young, Shaylee Gaskins, and Alina Tate.

Serving as pallbearers will be Scooner Donham, Fred Rison, Terry Youngblood, Johnny Booker, Bradley Stevens,  William Bradford, and Austin Strange. Honorary pallbearers include Dennis Walker, Ethan Cornwell, Carl Cornwell, Marvin Stevens, Charles "Chucky" Cornwell, Cody Maness, Josh Cornwell, Conner Cornwell, and Lucas Cornwell.
