In Loving Memory of Katie
Funeral services for Katie Brooke Hart, age 46 of Columbia, will be held at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, October 6, 2026, from the sanctuary of Columbia Heights Baptist Church with Bro. Daniel Binkley officiating. Interment will follow in the Fellowship Cemetery west of Columbia. The Hart family will receive visitors on Tuesday from 10:00 AM until time of service, at the church.
Katie Brooke Hart was born January 13, 1980 in Columbia, Louisiana to her parents Larry Dean Hart and Mel DeLee Meredith. She passed from this life October 1, 2026. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Lance and Mel Arthurs and William “Bill” and Arlene Hart, grandson, Dak Sullivan.
Katie was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was a devoted fur-baby mom, a woman who loved deeply, and someone whose humor and contagious laugh could fill an entire room. When Katie laughed, it was nearly impossible not to laugh right along with her. As a daughter and sister, Katie was an irreplaceable part of her family, sharing a lifetime of memories and the special bonds that come from growing through life together.
But perhaps the greatest part of Katie’s heart belonged to her children and grandchildren. Her children, Alexis, Alli, and Ashton, were her world. She loved them fiercely, completely, and unconditionally. Being their mom was one of the greatest parts of who she was. Then came her grandbabies, and somehow her heart grew even bigger. Katie absolutely adored Dak, who was waiting for her in Heaven; Slater, Stratton, Sage, Banx, and Baylor. They were her pride and joy, and she treasured being their Granby/Mamaw. Nothing brought her greater happiness than loving them, watching them grow, and simply being their grandma.
Katie also found happiness in the little things—her beloved fur babies, a Dr. Pepper close at hand, making people laugh, and spending time with the people she loved. These are the everyday pieces of her that will now become some of the most treasured memories.
Forty-six years was nowhere near enough. There should have been more birthdays, more pictures, more family gatherings, more silly moments, and more time watching her children live their lives and her grandchildren grow. Yet in those 46 years, Katie gave her family something that even death cannot take away: the certainty that they were deeply loved.
Her love will continue through Alexis (Ryan), Alli (Michael), and Ashton (Tyler), through Slater, Stratton, Sage, Banx and Baylor, through her sister Kellie (Shawn) and brother Kody (Emma), precious nieces Charleigh and Margaret, and sweet nephew Butler. Through her loving parents Dean and Mel (Mark). Through every member of her family whose life is better because Katie was part of it. And there is comfort in imagining that somewhere beyond what we can see, Katie has found Dak again—holding him close with all the love of the grandma he always had and always will.
Katie’s family will carry her with them in the stories they tell, the traditions they continue, the laughter they share, and all the beautiful memories she left behind. She was deeply loved, and she will never be forgotten.
Pallbearer will be B. Ryan Sillivan, Michael Black, Kody Hart and J.D. Arthurs.
We love you, Katie. We love you, Mom. We love you, Grandby.
Until we see you again.
