Funeral services for John Kimberly "Kim" Taylor will be held at 3:00 PM, Friday, July 31, 2026, at Olla First Baptist Church with Bro. Lee Piercy officiating. The family will have visitation prior to the service from 10:00 AM until 3:00 PM.
John Kimberly Taylor, affectionately known as “Mr. Kim”, was born on October 28, 1955, to Lewis and Mollie Taylor and took his final journey home on July 27, 2026, where he was reunited with the love of his life, Bit.
Mr. Kim never met a stranger and had an incredible ability to make everyone around him laugh. He truly had a heart of gold and could be found helping others in their moment of need. He dedicated his life to serving others as a Volunteer Firefighter and EMT. With courage in the face of danger and compassion in the midst of crisis, he answered the call time and again, leaving behind a legacy of selfless service, unwavering commitment, and countless lives forever touched by his kindness and bravery. He served as Chief of the Olla Volunteer Fire Department and was immensely proud of his team and the work they put in to serve the community with professionalism, dignity, and pride. Mr. Kim was known as “a jack of all trades and a master of many” working as a mechanic, an airbrush artist, and countless other roles, always helping others.
Above all else, he treasured making people laugh and spending time with friends and family. He married the love of his life on June 10, 1976 (precisely when she told him to) and together they created a lifetime of unforgettable memories, raising their children with love, devotion, and unwavering support. In their golden years, Mr. Kim and Mrs. Bit could be found riding motorcycles, traveling with friends, and eating at their favorite restaurants.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Bit, his father and mother, Lewis and Mollie Taylor, his father and mother-in-law, John and Dorothy Finley, his brothers, Buster Taylor and Dee Taylor, and sister-in-law, Beth Taylor.
He is lovingly remembered by his three children, Josh (Aimee), Jonathan (Summer), and Dana (Nathan); his grandchildren Noah (Kimberly), Jonas, Hailee, Jaxton, Graesyn, and Skyler; his great-grandson, Joel, who is expected soon; his siblings, Eddie, Tommy, and Vicki; and a host of nieces and nephews who all loved him dearly.
Pallbearers will be members of the Olla Volunteer Fire Department, serving as a final tribute to his years of dedicated service and the brotherhood he proudly shared.
