Jewel Young Coleman was born March 22, 1931 in Jena, LA to the union of her parents, Spencer Young and Lucy Mary Westbrooks Young, and she passed to her heavenly home September 15, 2020 at the La Salle Nursing Center in Jena. Jewel was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who made taking care of her family her life’s work. She loved being outdoors – fishing, camping or just walking in the woods. She had a green thumb and was able to have a yard that overflowed with beautiful flowers. It was always so pretty people would just drive by to look at what she was growing. Jewel was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William H. Coleman; daughters: Geneva Collins, Audrey Long and Mary E. Coleman; grandchildren: Cherie Coleman, Milton Long, and Sherwood Breithaupt; three brothers and four sisters. Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Richard W. Coleman (Sharlene); daughter, Dwana Girlinghouse (Jake); brother, Spencer Young, Jr.; ten grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Serving as pallbearers will be Travis Coleman, Justin Coleman, Jock Girlinghouse, Gavin Girlinghouse, Willie Long and Scotty Long. Honorary pallbearer will be Logan Girlinghouse. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made directly to the funeral home to help defray the expenses associated with the funeral service. Any contribution will be greatly appreciated.
