James Wetzell Stewart Sr

Funeral Services for James Stewart Sr will be held 1:00 P M, Wednesday,  June 11, 2025, at Riser Funeral Home in Columbia, Louisiana, with Stacey Pittman officiating. Interment will follow in Palestine Cemetery under the direction of Riser and Son Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Wednesday, 11:00 AM until time of service at 1:00, at the funeral home.

James Wetzell Stewart, Sr was born November 7, 1946, in Enterprise, LA to the union of his parents, Eugene Field Stewart and Ethel Lucille Foster Stewart, and he passed from this life peacefully at his residence on June 8, 2025. James was a good man. He was a member of Ouachita Baptist Church, was gentle, loving and supportive. He worked in the oil field until he retired. He worked just as hard after retirement mowing and keeping up the house place. James was down to earth, he enjoyed fishing, duck hunting, drinking coffee and talking about old times. James loved his family and the times spent with them especially during holidays, popping fireworks, eating, and reminiscing. 

James was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Wanda Brister Stewart; son, James Stewart Jr.; sister, Norma Adams; and brothers, Herman Stewart and Donnie Stewart. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Sherry Sprinkle Stewart; daughter, Dawn Stewart Martin; step-daughter, Brandi Rutter; step-son, Chris Rutter; brothers: Buck Stewart (Donna), George Stewart (Sherry), and Richard Stewart (Bonnie); sister, Joyce Bratton; grandchildren: Alexes Martin, Ryan Michael Martin, Christopher Rutter, Christina Johnson, and Zach Stewart.

Pallbearers will include, Ryan Michael Martin, Chris Rutter, Jerrod Stewart, Petie Adams, and James David Bratton.
