Funeral services for James Wayne Franklin age 80 of Grayson will be held 10:00 AM Friday February 4, 2022 from the sanctuary of Apostolic Truth Tabernacle at Grayson with Rev. Sherman Jones officiating. Interment will follow in the Welcome Home Cemetery at Grayson with services under direction of Riser & Son Funeral Home of Columbia. The Franklin Family will host visitation at the church on Thursday Feb. 3 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
James Wayne Franklin was born on April 7, 1941 to the union of his parents Leland James Franklin and Velma “Cutsie” Thompson Franklin and he passed from this life on January 31, 2022 at Citizens Medical Center in Columbia. He was preceded in death by his parents and by his beloved wife Dorothy; his grandsons : Dylan Kulcke and Andrew Maziasz and his brothers: Raymond Franklin and Damon “Dinky” Franklin.
Wayne loved fishing, gardening, loved dogs and rescued all stray animals. He had a heart of gold and was a loving husband to Dorothy for over fifty years, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He loved playing his fiddle and he was mentioned in the “Old Mill Pond “ as a musician. He loved Hank Williams Sr and knew every word to every song. He worked on the pipeline driving heavy equipment for years. Whatever he did he was a hard worker.
Left to cherish his memory is his son; David Franklin and his three daughters: Brenda Hudgins (Joe), Karen Husser (Jay) and Vickie Crain (John); his grandchildren: Matthew Maziasz, Victoria Roof, Caleb Kulcke and Cameron Husser; his great-grand-children: Alice Kulcke and Elijah Kulcke.
Serving as pallbearers will be Raymond Franklin, Charlie Franklin, Caleb Kulcke, Jay Husser, Charles Oxner and Jeremy Carter.
The family would like to give thanks to the staff at Citizens Medical Center for the love, and care they showed for their loved one.
