Jack Lamar Womack

“Coach Womack”

January 11, 1942 – May 22, 2026

Jack Lamar Womack, 84, of Olla, Louisiana, passed peacefully into the arms of his Lord and Savior on May 22, 2026. Born on January 11, 1942, in Oak Grove, Louisiana, he was the son of Horace and Beatrice Womack of Tullos.

A man of deep and abiding faith, Jack lived his life as a shining testament to God’s grace. His greatest joy was his family. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a proud grandfather and great-grandfather who cherished every moment spent with those he held dear.

Known affectionately as “Coach Womack,” Jack possessed a natural gift for teaching and coaching. Whether in the classroom or on the football field, his strong voice and passionate spirit left a lasting impact on generations of young people. He instilled in them the values of discipline, teamwork, and self-confidence. His love for sports remained strong throughout his life, including golf, basketball, baseball, and especially football.

Jack found great peace in nature. He enjoyed the quiet patience of crappie fishing and the excitement of deer hunting. He was also a gifted carpenter whose hands created beautiful pieces in his woodworking shop — treasures his family will cherish for years to come.

To his family, Daddy Jack was a true jack-of-all-trades and a tireless provider. He worked offshore, operated a local sawmill, maintained his oil wells, and kept every family vehicle running perfectly. There was nothing he couldn’t mend, build, or fix. His strong, capable hands were matched only by his loving heart.

He is survived by: his loving wife of 63 years, Mary Sue Lee Womack; his children (whom he lovingly called his “#1 Son,” “#2 Son,” and “#3 Son”): Sheri Connell (the late Bobby Connell), Regina Womack, and Jackie Sims (Joel Sims); his grandchildren: Schuyler Connell, Chelsea Taylor (Trevor Taylor), Josh Sims (Jenna Sims), Macie Rogers (Quinn Rogers), Sean Connell (Katlyn Connell), Collin Connell (LeAnna Vance), Hunter Sims (Hannah Coleman), and Ayden Connell (Natalie Delaune); his great-grandchildren: Lily Connell, Lexi Taylor, Bradley Taylor, Arya Taylor, Brady Rogers, Blakelynn “Tootie” Rogers, Cooper Sims, Lane Sims, Bailey-Mae Connell, Beaux Jack Connell, Luke Connell, and Scarlett Sims.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Nola B. Womack and Brenda James; and his daughter, Noline Womack.

Serving as pallbearers will be Schuyler Connell, Joshua Sims, Sean Connell, Collin Connell, Hunter Sims, and Ayden Connell. Honorary pallbearers are Bobby Blackwell, Dan Veuleman, Denis Gaston, Robert Woodard, Jeff Farrar, Mike McCartney, Brian Devaux, Tim Clark, Ricky Gould, Crawford Williams, Joe Phillips, Mickey Steen, Bruce Cockerham, and the late C. H. Boyd and Bob Albritton.
