Howard Herman Hogg, Sr. was born November 14, 1941, in Columbia, LA, to the union of his parents, Herman Howard Hogg and Pearl Hester Hogg and passed from this life peacefully at his ranch on November 27, 2025, surrounded by his family. Howard was a proud native of Caldwell Parish. He graduated from Grayson High School and lived in Caldwell Parish all his life except for his time spent in the military where he served as a helicopter medic in Vietnam. Howard devoted his life to managing timber, farming and raising cattle. For most of his life he operated his own logging operation called Triple H Logging. He was deeply connected to the land and was an expert at using heavy equipment to shape land to its perfected purpose. Howard was a true cowboy and lived his life exemplifying hard work, perseverance, authenticity and good stewardship. While Howard was unmatched in work ethic, he was also known to say that if you enjoy what you do, you will never work a day in your life.
Howard was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters: Jean Dees, Betty Kimzey, and Charlotte McIlwain. Those left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Naomi Hogg and Shanda White (Austin); son, Howard Hogg, Jr.; grandsons, Kyle McGuffee and Landon White; great-granddaughter, Elliott McGuffee; sister, Peggy West; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and cherished friends.
