Funeral Services for Harold Lum Sr. will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, September 11, 2026, at Mangham First Assembly of God in Mangham, Louisiana, with Bro. Tim Zuber officiating, with interment following at the Northeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Rayville, Louisiana, under the direction of Riser Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Friday before the service from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Mangham First Assembly of God.
Harold Lum, devoted husband, beloved father, uncle, grandfather, and great-grandfather, was born on September 21, 1943, in Monroe, Louisiana, to Curlin and Eva Lavonne Lum. However, he would tell you that his birthday was every day of the year (except Christmas). After 82 years of life, love, laughter, and memories, Harold passed from this life on September 5, 2026, just 16 days shy of his 83rd birthday, in Columbia, Louisiana.
Harold lived a life centered around the people he loved most. While he lived a long life, he will be most remembered for the countless lives he touched and the memories he leaves behind. Harold proudly served his country during the Vietnam War, dedicating 2 years, 11 months, and 21 days of his life to military service. His service was a meaningful part of his life and a testament to his dedication and commitment to his country.
He was most definitely considered a “Jack of All Trades”. From truck driving to a painter, to where he retired as a custodian at Ouachita Junior High School.
Harold is survived by his loving wife of fifty-nine years, Frances Lum (who he lovingly called “Mother”). He and Mother shared a life filled with love, companionship, and cherished memories. He leaves behind his three beloved children: Kimberly Emmons (Alvin), Michelle Shipp (Mike), and Harold “Bo” Lum Jr. (Jamie). Along with his bonus daughters, Kemberly Cook (“Fenchy”) and Kristy Mills.
His legacy continues through his grandchildren: Ethan Mauldin, Kacey Mauldin, Christopher Ferris, Megan Mills (Chris), Alandra Singson (Micah), Harlea Lum, Madison Shipp (Clay), Chase Shipp (Shelbi), and Cheyenne Shipp (Coby).
Harold was also blessed with many great-grandchildren, who brought additional joy and love into his life: Emmeryson Ferris, Kaceton Chapman, Gracelynn Ferris, Whitley Ferris, Houston Ferris, Bennett Ferris, Ryder Mills, Riley McMillian, Jace McMillian, Adalynn Royals, Carston Jobe, Amora Descant, and Ozyln Descant.
Serving as pallbearers will be Andy Nelson, Christopher Farris, Clay Mills, Chris Mills, Ethan Mauldin, and Allan Shipp. Honorary pallbearers are Kaseton Chapman, Carston Jobe, Henry Starr, and Jimmy Garner.
