Guy P. Whitten was born on July 1, 1935, in Caldwell Parish to the union of Trowley J. Whitten and Ruby Carpenter Whitten.
During his lifetime he held many varied jobs, working for the US Corp of Engineers, Caldwell Police Jury as a grader machine operator, Caldwell Parish School Board as a janitor at Kelly Elementary and later as a school bus driver, following in his father and grandfather's footsteps. He could do almost anything he put his mind to.
He attended Zion Hill Baptist Church outside Olla, until his health no longer allowed him to do so. He loved the outdoors, was an avid gardener, hunter and fisherman. He also loved to cook, especially for his hunting buddies at the camp. He was a founding member of Beaucoup Hunting Club.
When his first wife was sick with cancer he stepped in as a caregiver.
He will be greatly missed, but lives on in our memories. Everyone that knew him is sure to have a cherished memory and/or a story to tell. He was one of a kind.
