Ronnie was born July 11, 1939, in Rayville, LA, to the union of his parents, Laura Finley Bennett and Felix Bruce Bennett, and he passed to his heavenly home on May 16, 2025, at The Oaks Nursing Center in Monroe, LA. Ronnie was a hard worker and wore many hats throughout his life. He was a store owner for 11 years, a school bus driver for 28 years, and was a farmer most of his life. He served on the Gravity Drainage Board for 10 years and was President of the board in 1968. If you knew Ronnie, you knew he was quite the entertainer. He loved to sing and play his guitar but he also loved to make others laugh. He was a joy to be around. He loved his family and friends dearly and he will be greatly missed. Ronnie was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers: A.J. Bennett, Robert Bennett, and Joe Bennett; and sisters, Mildred Lively and Louise Mills.
Those left to cherish his memory are his children: Rhonda Semmes (Farrell), Marion Annette Barnes, Tammy Morrison (George), and Chris Bennett (Jana); his sister, Maurine Brownell; grandchildren: Katy Volentine, Brandon Semmes (Teresa), Julian Semmes (Rachel), Chad Parker (Samantha), Brandon Furness, Sarah Mitchell (Nick), Sarina Dowlearn and Leslee Bennett; as well as, twenty-three great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and a host of friends.
Serving as pallbearers will be Julian Semmes, Brandon Semmes, Shannon Bennett, Kevin Bennett, Scott Meredith, and Wes Cruse. Honorary pallbearers are Jaxon Black, Paul Wilkins, Tommy Parker, Charlie Simons, Kenneth Tarver, Reggie Watson, and Chuck Cruse.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the administration and staff at The Oaks Nursing Home and Compassus Hospice Care.
