d. September 15, 2023

Grayson, Louisiana

Glynn Allen Davis was born in Monroe, LA, April 28, 1951, by the union of Herbert and Nobey Davis, of Winnsboro, LA.  Glynn has lived in The Oaks Nursing Home in Monroe, LA for five years. He passed from this life September 15, 2023, in the year of our Lord.

Glynn earned an associate’s degree in electricity from Hinds Jr. College in Raymond, MS.

During his life, Glynn worked as an electrician for Marathon LeTourneau in Longview, TX.  He was an electronics technician for LeFebure Banking Equipment and Security Systems in Texarkana, TX, The University of Texas at Austin, TX in the Campus Housing Division, and Chase Security Systems, Inc. in Monroe, LA.

Glynn and Darlene loved each other for many years. They were married in Longview, and again in Austin.

Glynn was a good father to Paul.  From Paul’s Tiger Cub years, Cub Scouts in elementary school, and Boy Scouts in junior high and high school, Glynn played an active role to support Paul in the life of a Scout. Glynn spent many hours with Paul in the Boy Scout Troop 256 in Austin.  He took Paul to mission adventures, camping trips, outdoor experiences in Lost Pines Encampment, and monthly Reward Nights.  Glynn worked with Paul to earn many merit badges. He and Paul traveled with Troup 256 to spend a week on a forty-foot sailboat, the USS Rainbow Connection, in Key West, Florida. Glynn’s support and dedication helped Paul to achieve the rank of Eagle Scout.  Paul was rewarded by the troop members to receive the white sash with the red arrow for the Order of the Arrow for outstanding Scouts. Glynn played a major role in Paul’s success in Boy Scouts.

Glynn loved to be out in the woods hunting for deer and fishing in the river or a lake.  Glynn killed a bobcat in Sonora, Texas. It is mounted. Glynn was so proud of it.

Glynn was a member of the local HAM radio club. He enjoyed talking with other HAM operators. Glynn’s call sign, KD5SII, is now going to be an SK, a Silent Key.

Glynn was learning how to shoot his compound crossbow. He was overcoming his physical handicap to enjoy his sport.

Glynn is survived by his wife, Rita Darlene Davis, and his son, Paul Allen Davis, both of Grayson, LA. Also, Glynn has two brothers, Alton R. Davis, of Grayson, and Ralph S. Davis, with his wife, Sharlie, of Kaufman, TX.  Ralph’s son, Cody Davis with his wife, Morgan, and their children, Marley and Stark, live in Ruston, LA.  Ralph’s daughter, Kimberly lives in Rockwall, TX. Kimberly’s family includes daughters, Ella and Aubrey, and son Adam.  Also, Merle Davis, wife of Jerry Davis, a first cousin of the Davis family.

Glynn was a member of Grayson Baptist Church. He enjoyed singing in the choir, driving the church bus, and helping with the Building & Grounds team.
