George Ellis Bostick was born on July 20, 1941 in Natchitoches to the union of the late George Taylor and Sibyl Darden Bostick and passed from this life to a more glorious life with his Lord and Savior on December 30, 2008. He fought a long and hard battle with cancer and faced it head on with the help of his family and the Lord. All through his fight he would face each day with a smile and see the challenge that it brought. Mr. Bostick graduated high school at Fair Park High School in Shreveport and attended Northwestern State University and graduated with a Master's Degree in Special Education in 1967. He worked for the State of Louisiana for over thirty years with special needs children and adults. He started in the classroom at Ruston State School then was the State Head for Day Services before coming to Columbia Developmental Center. He was then a Regional Administrator for OCDD for several years in the Lafayette Region and then the Monroe Region before returning to Ruston Developmental Center and Columbia Developmental Center as interim Administrator before retiring in 1998. He has been a driving force in the life of his family: his wife of 46 years; Patsy West Bostick of Grayson, his sons and daughters-in-law; Byron and Tracey Bostick of Alexandria and Wade and Denise Bostick of Houston. His grandchildren; Gabriel Bostick, Ethan Bostick and William Bostick were a blessing to his life. He is also survived by his sister; Betty Gunn and her husband, Jesse of West Monroe, brother; Roy Bostick and wife, Patsy of West Monroe. Pallbearers will be Austin Glass, John Patterson, Henry Byrd, B.J. Hall, Judge Don Burns and Floyd Patton. Honorary pallbearers are Bill Cantrell and Howard Strebeck. George was a loving father, grandfather, brother and friend. He provided an example of Christ like behavior in the way he lived his life. His faith and belief in God revealed itself in not just his words of encouragement, but also through his actions. He touched many hearts and lives because he cared and reached out to others whenever possible and without any expectations or exceptions. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society at 1761 N 19th St. Monroe, LA 71202.
