Funeral services for Gaynell Duncan will be held at 1 PM, Saturday, November 7, 2020 at Hebert Full Gospel Church, 75 Sullivan Acres Rd, Hebert, LA with Rev. Marvin Tabora officiating. Interment will follow at Welcome Home Cemetery, Grayson under the direction of Riser Funeral Home. The family will receive visitors at the church from 5 PM until 8 PM on Friday, November 6, 2020. Gaynell Francis Lafferty Duncan, also known as Mama, Mammaw, Mammaw Duncan, Aunt Gaynell and Sister, passed from this life on November 4, 2020 surrounded by her loved ones. She was born in Columbia, LA on April 16, 1942 to Horace Franklin Lafferty and Eula Mae Watson Lafferty. She was married to the love of her life, George Andrew Duncan (John L) for 50 years. In her early years she was a caretaker where she worked locally as a nurse’s assistant. She would go on to become a full-time wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a hard worker and was always right by her husband’s side. No job was too big for her. She loved spending time with everyone. She was special not only to her kids and grandkids but to all her nieces and nephews as well. She enjoyed working in her flower beds, gardening, crocheting, quilting, and mostly living on the lake where she could fish every day. She loved everyone but most of all Jesus. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 50 years, George Andrew Duncan; her parents, Horace Franklin Lafferty and Eula Mae Watson Lafferty; infant son, Bobby; one brother, Jessie Lafferty; four sisters: Evie Robinson, Leta Belle Lingefelt, Abbie Roberts, and Louise Green; two grandchildren: Joe Fincher and Hunter Fincher; granddaughter-in-law, Kylie King Duncan and great-granddaughter, Lainey Rae-Lynn Duncan. She is survived by her sons: John Wayne Duncan (Debbie) and George A. Duncan, Jr. (Lanna); daughters: Sharon “Susie” Fincher (Joe) and Margie Ferguson; grandchildren: Dustin Duncan, Johnathon Duncan, Dakota Duncan Smith (Taylor), Ethan Duncan (Haylee), Landon Fincher, Jimmy Ferguson, Jr., Kelsey Ferguson, and Nickey Hixon (Kevin); great-grandchildren: Jordyn, Jadyn, and Beaux Smith, Eli, Aleigha, Preslee and Harper Duncan, Kaylee, Emma, and Jimmy Ferguson III, Michael and Gabe Hixson; Five sisters: Mary Jones, Sadie Fields, Thelma Nation, Janette Taylor, and Annette Duncan; and three brothers: Frank Lafferty (Ann), Horace Lafferty and Joe Lafferty (Ann). Serving as pallbearers will be Ethan Duncan, Taylor Smith, Michael Duncan, Justin Gough, Tony Duncan, Willis Davis and Johnathon Duncan. Honorary pallbearers are Dustin Duncan and Jimmy Ferguson, Jr. The family would like to give special thanks to all her caregivers over the past year. A special thank you to Justin Gough for caring for her night and day in the last few weeks.
